England x Reader- Slender Man part 2

Finally, anticipation and nerves managed to lure us from the car and together, we stepped through the ancient wrought iron gates that lead into the shadowy park.

We walked along in silence, my heart stopping each time the snap of a tree branch or the rustle of leaves echoed through the darkness.

Biting my lip, I prompted myself to be brave. If Arthur could do this, so could I.

Besides, Slender man was just a legend.

A bush rustled abruptly off to my right causing me to jolt away from the alarming sound and right into the British gentleman. Catching me from behind (and preventing my fall), he helped lift me back to my feet and spun me around to face him.
“[Name], are you alright?”
Blushing, I lowered my gaze but I could still feel Arthur’s emerald eyes watching me with concern.

“Y-yeah. I’m okay. Just…a bit startled is all.”

He smiled and held out his hand which I took gratefully and we continued off with renewed courage.

Minutes later, we came upon our first page.

The yellowed piece of paper was tacked onto a tree and had writing in black.

“Help Me”

The words replayed over and over in my head and I shuddered.
Where had this come from? Why was it here?
What purpose could it possibly serve?

“Well, that wasn’t so hard.” Arthur smirked and tugged the parchment free, tucking it in his jacket.

That was when the noise started.

Loud, thundering footsteps coming from somewhere in the abyss. Closer and closer. I swallowed.

“What in the-?” The blond frowned, squinting into the trees but was cut off as I snatched up his hand and started running.

“What is it!?” He yelled as we raced away.

“I don’t know!” I answered, refusing to look back. “And I don’t want to find out!”

After running for five minutes, we both stopped to catch our breath. My heart refused to quiet its pounding but that was the least of my concerns at the moment.
